Which NetSuite AI Features Are Actually Live in Your Account Right Now?

Table of Contents

Introduction

NetSuite AI features already span eight products areas, from invoice scanning to financial planning. At SuiteWorld 2025, Oracle introduced NetSuite Next. It was introduced as a conversational, agent-driven rebrand built around the NetSuite AI Assistant, Ask Oracle.

NetSuite Next is not yet something most customers should treat as broadly available production functionality. Oracle has said initial availability will begin with North American customers within 12 months of its October 2025 announcement, with timing subject to change. Yes, a full year after the announcement. It is currently undergoing a controlled, phased rollout. However, there are seven other NetSuite AI features that are genuinely live today. Three of those are behind a separate add-on license that you may need to activate.

Which NetSuite AI Features Are Available Right Now?

Seven NetSuite AI capabilities are running in production accounts today, covering the most common NetSuite AI use cases for finance and operations teams. None requires waiting for NetSuite Next. Here is what each one actually does.

AI Connector Service (MCP Server):

This is the integration layer that lets external large language models (Claude, ChatGPT, or any model that supports the Model Context Protocol) read and act on NetSuite data without a custom-built API bridge. It ships with three sub-components: MCP Tools (the functions an external model is allowed to call), Prompts & Roles (preconfigured role templates for CFO, Controller, AR/AP Analyst, and Treasury, each scoped to the data and actions appropriate to that role), and Skills (packaged, reusable task sequences an LLM can execute inside NetSuite).

In practice, a finance lead can ask an external assistant a question about cash position or AP aging and get an answer grounded in live NetSuite records. At the same time, the role-based scoping prevents the same assistant from accessing payroll or HR data that it has no business seeing. It is also the same service referenced from NetSuite’s Analytics Warehouse page, so it functions as shared infrastructure across multiple AI features rather than a single bolt-on tool.

Narrative Insights:

Most NetSuite reports are tables: rows of numbers a controller or analyst has to interpret manually to figure out what actually changed. Narrative Insights generates a plain-language summary alongside the report itself for inventory positions, pricing changes, journal entries, and sales orders, describing what moved, by how much, and in which direction. It is like a faster first read for executives who need the headline before they need the detail.

Text Enhance:

Built on Oracle’s OCI Generative AI Service, Text Enhance is generative AI embedded directly into the records you already fill out: item descriptions, sales communications, purchase orders, job listings, employee goals, and internal notes. Two sub-features extend it further.

Translations are available in 22 languages with automatic source-language detection, via the SuiteScript GenAI API for developers who want to call it programmatically. Prompt Customizations, configured through NetSuite Prompt Studio, let administrators change what the default “Enhance Text” button actually does, so the tone, length, or structure it generates can be tuned to match your company’s voice rather than a generic default.

Bill Capture:

Bill Capture (also called Invoice Capture) uses AI/ML-based document object detection and OCR to read vendor invoices submitted by email or drag-and-drop, then auto-populates the bill record’s fields (vendor, amount, line items, due date) without manual entry. It learns from each vendor’s previous invoices. Hence, accuracy improves the longer you use it, and it runs two- and three-way PO matching automatically before routing the bill through SuiteApprovals for sign-off. This is a separately licensed add-on module, not something included by default.

Analytics Warehouse:

Also known as NetSuite Data Warehouse, this is a prebuilt cloud analytics layer built on Oracle Analytics Cloud and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse. It carries five distinct AI capabilities:

  • Statistical analysis (automatic detection of clusters, outliers, trends, and forecasts)
  • Auto-Insights and Explain (narrative and visualization generation triggered from inside a report)
  • Predictive analytics (out-of-the-box machine learning models for churn and stockout prediction)
  • Generative analytics (the Oracle Analytics AI Assistant, a conversational interface for querying your data in plain English)
  • Customizable analytics (AutoML plus Oracle Machine Learning for teams who want to build their own models in Python or R)

It is also where NetSuite explicitly states that its AI Connector Service can be used to query this same data via external LLMs. Like Bill Capture, it is a separately licensed add-on module.

Planning and Budgeting:

This embeds AI directly into FP&A workflows. Multivariate Prediction handles multi-driver forecasting across multiple variables simultaneously. Predictive Planning, also called Intelligent Performance Management, continuously monitors plan-versus-actual data, flags anomalies, trends, and biases, and generates GenAI narrative summaries explaining what it found.

Scenario Planning and Modeling supports AI-assisted “what-if” analysis, and a Microsoft Office integration through Smart View pushes AI-enabled insight updates directly into Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or Google Sheets. This is the third add-on module on this list.

Item Recommendations:

Part of NetSuite’s Sales Force Automation suite, Item Recommendations generates personalized product suggestions based on a customer’s purchase history and buying patterns, such as “people who bought this also bought,” recently added items, items the customer has not yet seen, and similar items. It surfaces both during sales order entry for an internal rep and on customer-facing NetSuite ecommerce storefronts. Unlike the previous three, this one is included with the NetSuite platform as part of CRM, though it still requires a CRM license if you are not already using that module.

How to Audit Your Own Account in Five Steps

  1. Pull your enabled-features list from Setup > Company > Enable Features.
  2. Cross-check it against the seven live features above.
  3. Ask your NetSuite rep which of Bill Capture, Analytics Warehouse, and Planning and Budgeting are licensed versus simply available.
  4. Check whether your account has migrated to Redwood UI, since Next cannot activate without it.
  5. Pick one missing feature with a clear KPI (close time, invoice processing time, forecast accuracy) and pilot it first.

Summing It Up

NetSuite AI is already moving from roadmap to real ERP usage. For finance teams, this matters because Gartner predicts that cloud ERP applications with embedded AI assistants can help organizations achieve a 30% faster financial close by 2028.

But the value depends on knowing what is actually live in your account. Text Enhance, Narrative Insights, AI Connector Service, and Item Recommendations may already be available depending on your setup, while Bill Capture, Analytics Warehouse, and Planning and Budgeting often require separate licensing.

NetSuite Next will be important as Oracle expands Ask Oracle and agent-led workflows, but it should not be treated as fully available for every customer today. The smarter move is to audit your current NetSuite account first, confirm what is enabled, and prioritize the AI features that can improve close speed, invoice processing, forecasting, reporting, or sales productivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check which AI features are enabled in NetSuite?

Go to Setup > Company > Enable Features and review the list against the seven live features above, or ask your account representative which are already licensed versus simply available to add.

Is NetSuite AI included in my account?

Some of it, yes. Narrative Insights, Text Enhance, AI Connector Service, and Item Recommendations ship with the base platform or NetSuite CRM. Bill Capture, Analytics Warehouse, and Planning and Budgeting are separately licensed add-ons, so “included” depends on which NetSuite AI capabilities your contract covers.

How do I find out if Bill Capture is actually licensed on my account?

Check Setup > Company > Enable Features, or ask your account representative. Bill Capture, Analytics Warehouse, and Planning and Budgeting are add-on modules sold separately from the core platform.

Does AI Connector Service expose our financial data to outside AI models by default?

No. Access is role-based. Preconfigured roles exist for CFO, Controller, and AR/AP Analyst, and your team has to grant that access deliberately.
